The 7th edition of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) Open Days officially kicked off this Sunday in Rabat. This major communication event, running until May 22, embodies the security institution's firm commitment to reinforcing community policing and consolidating public trust. This year's edition holds a highly symbolic value as it coincides with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the DGSN's founding, alongside the inauguration of its brand-new headquarters in the capital.

The official opening ceremony was presided over by Minister of the Interior Abdelouafi Laftit and the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST) Abdellatif Hammouchi. The high-profile event was attended by government members, judicial, military, and civil dignitaries, alongside prominent international security figures, including Interpol President Phil Lucas and the Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.

Modernizing Public Service and Looking Ahead

Aligned with the High Royal Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this year's event highlights the DGSN's steady efforts to modernize police services and elevate their quality. Speaking on behalf of the DGSN, Senior Commissioner Reda Chbouh emphasized that this edition aims to build on past achievements and boost the public's sense of security. He added that the anniversary serves as an annual milestone to bridge generations of police officers under the noble motto "Together for a Safe Morocco."

The security official also noted that this anniversary aligns with the opening of the DGSN's new integrated headquarters in Rabat. This modern complex provides an advanced functional environment that enables police personnel to optimally fulfill their duties in safeguarding citizens, residents, and foreign visitors.

Field Demonstrations and Royal Honors

The opening ceremony featured a series of dynamic field demonstrations and live exercises showcasing the high operational readiness and advanced logistics of various units. The displays included precise drills by the motorcycle corps, the equestrian police, self-defense techniques, the K9 unit, and a specialized tactical intervention simulation performed by the Special Forces of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

The event also featured the awarding of Royal Wissams (medals) to several distinguished police officers, alongside a special tribute dedicated to former Directors General of the DGSN in recognition of their decades of service. First launched in 2017 in Casablanca, the Open Days have become a highly anticipated annual event, fostering direct interaction, transparency, and a fruitful dialogue between the national police force and the public.
